The radio accompanies us through our lives. Helping to define our eras; dragging us out of bed on a Monday morning; helping us through long drives; and becoming almost family! We grow up with our favourite radio DJs, following them as they move stations. And we jump around the dial depending on our mood. This week’s episode is dedicated to all of this.
Susie and Esther recreate DESERT ISLAND DISCS, subtly re-titled, SANDY ISLAND RECORDS... And the sketch is an homage to the radio. See if you can name the radio stations referenced!
The special guest this week is a Radio Classic himself. The legendary BBC Radio 1 and Radio 6 Music DJ, STEVE LAMACQ. Steve wanted to be a DJ from a very young age and didn’t imagine that it could actually happen! After a spell refereeing Under-12s football matches, journalism beckoned! He talks Esther and Susie through his early career and the dedication that has led to his position as the most respected DJ on radio. He also discusses his love of a certain radio drama! Steve is as fascinating as you’d imagine and his interview is a treat to listen to.

Cue the fireworks! That bit between Christmas and New Year is a time for munching through all the festive chocs while watching films you've seen 100 times before; considering jogging and deciding against it; and, the new tradition, listening to your favourite podcast - LIMITED TIME ONLY!
Esther and Susie are stuffed to the gills on liquorice and turkey but thankfully haven't lost the ability to natter. They discuss resolutions, regifting and cheese rolling; provide a public service involving Auld Lang Syne (thanks to a surprise Scots visitor); and there's a rendition of Gaudete by the 16th Century's answer to the Von Trapp family...cassocks at the ready.
The gals are joined by not one but TWO special guests. The guests are in the same room although they've never been seen in the same room at the same time! Work that out once you've heard them! CHRIS CLARKSON is an actor, singer, presenter, magician and all-round superstar. You name it, he's done it with gusto. Chris is currently in his 21st panto season - his eighth playing the coveted role of Dame. Chris chatted to Susie & Esther from his dressing room at the New Theatre Royal, Lincoln where he's appearing as Dame Ginger Spice in Aladdin. Joining Esther and Susie for the Christmas Special is actress and comedian, Janice Connolly. Janice is a familiar face on television as Holy Mary in Phoenix Nights with Peter Kay; Rosie Colton in BBC 1's Doctors; and as her comedy alter ego, Mrs Barbara Nice who had the Britain's Got Talent judges in stitches in 2019. Janice has just stepped down from her role as Artistic Director of Women & Theatre - the award-winning Birmingham theatre company she co-founded. Janice chats to S&E about the company's pioneering work over the last 40 years; how her career in comedy started; what it's like appearing in BGT; and she generously guest stars as the Ghost of Christmas Past in the Dickens' themed sketches! What's the point? is a common refrain in Susie & Esther's households. They explain the various reasons why. And they're probably even weirder than you think. During the course of the conversation, Susie learns something. Everyday's a school day when chatting to Esther.
They both learn lots while speaking to their first INTERNATIONAL GUEST! Australia-based British casting director, producer and all round marvel, Lisa Campbell
Lisa was an actress in an international touring production of 'An Inspector Calls' with the National Theatre when she met her future husband, David Campbell at a party in Sydney. It was love at first sight. Lisa spent just 3 weeks back in the UK after the tour had finished before relocating Down Under to begin her new life. And she hasn't looked back! Lisa explains how saying 'yes' to opportunities she'd never imagined has brought fulfilment and happiness to her life. And what it's like casting a South Korean production of Moulin Rouge over Zoom. Lady Gaga would be impressed. Lisa is funny, fascinating and a force for good within the entertainment industry. It's a treat to listen to her.

It's nearly winter and the hedgehogs are heading into hibernation, while the humans are heading into overdrive. In Episode 2 of Season Three, Esther and Susie explore the threat of burning out - a hot topic at the moment (see what we did there?!)
This week's special guest is Hannah Miller - a Strengths-Based Coach who returns to LTO for the second time! (Susie and Esther are thrilled they didn't scare Hannah off in the first series!) Hannah's company is Sidekick which offers coaching, courses and community - 'the roadmap you need to build for the life you're looking for'. One of Hannah's courses is The Purpose Pursuit for people who feel stuck, at a crossroads, or who are navigating a change in their life. And who's not felt like that at some point? (every day?!) Hannah speaks so articulately about what Burnout and Boreout look like for different people. It's a change of seasons of LTO and the first episode is all about...changing seasons (how on earth did they come up with that?!)
Esther & Susie chat stationary, darkness and self-sabotage in a chat that is as silly as you'd expect. With a fair bit of honesty chucked in for good measure. You may well be inspired to buy a planner and floss your teeth. And possibly do a press-up.
In a twist of fate that 12 year old Susie would never have believed possible, the special guest for Episode 1 is Chesney Hawkes, who looks pretty much the same as he did in 1991. Chesney is the consummate guest - funny, inspiring with cracking rockstar anecdotes. He also has apparently endless patience. We still don't know where the balloons came from...
As well as talking about Chesney's big break in Buddy's Song (including a terrifying audition in front of his idol, Pete Townshend) and how he came to sing the Nik Kershaw-penned The One and Only, Chesney tells Susie & Esther how he deals with stress, and about the joys of gigging with his son. Jesus Christ Superstar coming down from heaven on a Yamaha also features. 90s kids, that one's for you.

As if to remind Susie & Esther why they called the podcast Limited Time Only, the final episode of the season has come around already. And to reinforce the point, the episode is all about the 1990s - a marvellous decade which began just a few years ago, right?! 32 years ago to be precise. Excuse us while we cry into our Hooch.
All is not lost, however, as Susie & Esther discover solace as well as bittersweetness in remembering their youth. And are they actually still 16 in a parallel universe? Probably not. But who wants to do their GCSEs again anyway?!
The final guest of Season 2 is pop royalty - H from the band, Steps! (Esther & Susie are still pinching themselves). Celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year, Steps are in the midst of a national tour; have just released another brand new single, Hard2Forget; and next month release their Platinum Collection album packed with their greatest hits from 1997 to 2022. It's still all go for the band whose music is the soundtrack to our 90s youth. As well as all this, H also presents his own weekly radio show on BBC Wales and is the father to 6 year old twins - the hardest job of all! H is an absolute delight - funny, generous and insightful. He speaks candidly about his experiences of growing up as a young gay man and how his same-sex pairing with Matt Evers in Dancing on Ice in 2020 was ground (and barrier) breaking. He tells us about the joy of being in Steps and how the band has always provided an inclusive, safe space for everyone. We hear about his hidden talents; his parenting tips; and who he thinks would win in a fight - S Club 7 or Steps?! H is everything you'd hope and more. A most wonderful guest. Enjoy!

We all have mental health, and this week Susie & Esther chat about their good and bad head days and what they do to nurture their noggins. Stillness helps, as does moving. But Esther's husband Ian puts them both to shame with a weekly 70 mile round trip on his bike (or has he just gone to the cinema?). Sharing top tips tête à tête, the gals go a bit French, breathe excessively and discover that to-do lists really shouldn't be 100 items long.
Their guest this week is the inspirational Matt Campion, Creative Director of award-winning, Spirit Studios. Spirit produces original TV and digital content including programmes like Trigger Happy TV and The Stand Up Sketch Show; and a raft of podcasts including Jamie Laing's Private Parts. Spirit's mission is to create content ‘Powered by Spirit’ that impacts audiences through entertainment and storytelling, in order to drive change for the better. A major part of this mission is #IAMWHOLE - an award-winning mental health campaign founded by Spirit Studios and Jordan Stephens (Rizzle Kicks) aimed at young people encouraging them to speak out, seek help and change the stats. Esther & Susie talk to Matt about how Spirit started; his own mental health journey; and about Matt's 2020 TED Talk titled 'The panic attack that started a global mental health campaign' #IAMWHOLE. It's a wide-ranging discussion full of humour and heart and which covers subjects that may be upsetting.

They admit to many failings of will power, stamina and general being-botheredness when it comes to keeping fit. And they make some bold promises to do fitness better. Or indeed, at all.
Their guest this week is Philly Excell - movement professional, mum of 3 and an absolute delight. Philly runs Philly Fitness from her home in Henley, offering classes for women for toning, strength, increased flexibility and relieving stress. She tells Esther & Susie about how fitness has moved away from an obsession with losing weight to a desire to feel good and move freely without injury; her passion for helping new mums regain strength and confidence in their bodies; and how exercise shouldn't be a punishment, just moving your body is enough.
